AC Activities and Elections

The aim of this page is to display relevant information related with the Athletes Commission activities, meetings, recommendations or electoral process to choose its members.

The vision is to evolve this section into an athlete forum where lifters can also communicate by posting questions and sharing answer resolutions on common issues within our community.

Near future plans also include the introduction an IWF event survey to continuously gather data that will help shape clear event standards focused on athlete welfare — including areas as nutrition, accommodation, and transportation protocols during competitions.

This platform will also serve as a space to engage with  athletes and collect their viewpoints on major changes, including proposed amendments to the TCRR and other key aspects of the sport.

While we currently run an athlete survey via QR code during competitions, we aim to simplify and strengthen this process by using this platform for direct and continuous athlete engagement.

1. Uphold Olympic Values and Fundamental Principles of Olympism

• Display fair play and respect on and off the platform.

• By competing clean, respecting opponents, and promoting the spirit of weightlifting.

2. Respect the Integrity of Sport & Compete Clean

• Avoid doping and report suspicious activities.

• Reject any form of match-fixing or result manipulation (e.g., faking injury, false attempts).

• Support clean sport through participation in anti-doping education and staying updated with WADA prohibited substances.

3. Act Morally & Report Unethical Behaviours

• Report suspicious behaviour (e.g., forced doping, coaching misconduct) to IWF Integrity & safeguarding officer or IOC hotline platforms.

• Speak up against any form of corruption or unethical practice.

4. Comply with Laws & Rules

• Follow competition rules set by the IWF and national governing bodies.

• Understand qualification criteria and maintain eligibility through consistent compliance.

• Be responsible to follow international rules and regulations during events out of your home nations.

5. Respect Others & Avoid Discrimination or Harassment

• Treat all athletes, officials, coaches, and staff with dignity—regardless of nationality, gender, religion, or background.

• Do not engage in abusive behaviour or tolerate it from others.

• Promote inclusion and speak up when discrimination occurs.

6. Avoid Political Demonstrations

• Refrain from political gestures during competition and podium ceremonies.

• Respect the neutrality of the Olympic and IWF competition environment.

• Express opinions through approved channels such as athlete commissions or media outside the field of play.

7. Respect the Solidarity Principle

• Support teammates and fellow athletes from other nations, especially those facing economic, social, or political hardships.

• Share knowledge and encourage mentorship within training camps or international events.

8. Act with good intent and as a Role Model

• Promote clean sport on social media ( i.e. #iLiftClean )

• Inspire young lifters by demonstrating good sportsmanship and discipline.

• Support community and youth programs whenever possible.

9. Stay Informed and Aware

• Participate in anti-doping seminars and workshops.

• Keep track of any changes in technical rules, qualification systems, and athlete services.

• Consult your Athlete Commission or National Federation leaders regularly.

10. Participate in Hearings and Speak Truthfully

• Cooperate with investigations if required.

• Provide honest testimony if you are a witness to unethical behaviour.

11. Take Part in Athlete Representation

• Vote in IWF and national athlete commission elections.

• Encourage your peers to stand as representatives.

• Provide feedback through Athlete Commissions on issues like athlete services, and welfare.

AC MEETINGS

January 5, 2026

The first AC meeting of the year discussed important topics related with technical aspects during the IWF events, the best way to evaluate performance throughout different bodyweight categories, and the promotion of the AC activities. More specifically, the AC meeting had five points in its agenda: 1. New IWF Points System; 2. Weigh-in time change; 3. Lifters’ belt size; 4. Bar oscillation; 5. AC webpage.
